In Monday’s news conference in the USA (Feb. 9, 2009), President Obama stated that he thought civility and reason could ultimately prevail in the face of absence for both.
What is your view regarding that concept as applied to people in politics or religion?

Sure. But Obama's view of civility and reason is capitulating to his own views.

There are times for it and there are times for the absence of it.

Re: Civility and Reason
I would argue that the more civil and reasonable society becomes, the more it is open to be exploited by those who are not.

Faith must be maintained in favor of civility and reason.
The absence of it is violence and bloodshed. When freedoms are threatened and/or abused that may be necessary, but reason and civility must always first be sought after.

Re: Civility and Reason
I think Obama will make changes certainly because he has captured the hearts of people, but it is a cycle, people will soon bore.
I said No. Because I think for it to work there must be mass unity and not many people have the capability within their means to be both civil and reasonable or have any sense of reason. So not really the best plan. I think hit people at several angles at once to get them all would be a better idea. An action plan that has several action plans within it as a means to an end. Even they contradict. Just don't tell the people they do lol. Even if that means having a bigger counsil where there are more than one leader of the country.
