It was my good fortune to see Jim Leonard's The Diviners last night. I'd not heard of the play, but was assured by my company for the evening that it was fantastic. And it was fantastic! It blew me away.

The music playing as we were seated was the first clue that I'd love the show. Dolly Parton's Little Sparrow is haunting and long time favorite of mine. Also featured were Alison Krauss's Down In The River To Pray and Willie Nelson's take on You Are My Sunshine, a song I think I've sang since I could talk.

The Diviners is undoubtedly a tragedy. But it's also one of the funniest shows I've seen in a while. I wish I could see it again tonight.

Here is a review of the show that gives a good general description of the plot: KDHX Theatre Review: The Diviners

If the opportunity presents itself, please see The Diviners. It's one of the best plays I've ever seen. It even has a funny line about Mormons which set the audience roaring.

Wants to play the banjo,

KA
