Knitting and TV

I got some beautiful yarn from the Farmer's Market today. It inspired me to start knitting again.

I found a really cute pattern for a sweater for my little boy.

Now I won't feel quite so guilty about being unproductive during my 2 hour block of television tomorrow (Dexter at 9, Curb Your Enthusiasm at 10, and Californication at 10:30).

I love Sunday nights! :)

For Blixa and any of my fellow knitting nerds....The pattern I'm using is from this book:

I'm doing the sweater on the front cover, only I'm using a blue background.

How cool! I really want to knit, and I keep trying, but truthfully, I'm bad at it (or I just don't have the patience). I was just contemplating today whether or not I should give it another shot.

It takes me forever to finish something I'm working on when I'm knitting. I purposely chose the size 7-8 pattern for the sweater because I know that's about the size my son will be when I finish it. He is a size 6 right now. LOL

I just enjoy it. It's relaxing for me. I try to pick something where I'm not really concerned about a deadline. I'll finish it when it gets done.

If you can look at it in that frame of mind, you may want to give it another go! LOL

I save my knitting for my TV nights.

Liz,

That's a wonderful sweater! I know how to knit, but I don't like it. Crochet seems to go faster for me and yes, when I crochet I do it while watching TV. ;-)

What other types of needle arts do you engage in? I used to do crewel and counted thread cross stitch.

It seems like life gets so busy and I forget about needle arts. You're inspiring me to do something else with my hands besides type on a keyboard!

:-D

I know how to crochet, but I just prefer knitting...not sure exactly why, except that I have done more of it.

I'm really not into cross stitch. I guess it's too close to sewing, which I completely suck at. LOL

I have done some tie quilting, which is kind of fun.

I'm really enjoying the knitting right now. I'm probably going to get more into it. There are a lot of free patterns online, and the Better Homes and Gardens book that has the sweater pattern I'm working on has a lot of other patterns in it, too.

I recently discovered a Farmer's Market that is not too far from my house. I went there this past Saturday. They sell the most beautiful yarn. It comes from the wool of the sheep they raise. It is the softest wool I have ever felt. It doesn't feel scratchy at all. And the variety of colors they have are beautiful. I'll probably go back next week and see what they have that's new. They always have something different. I can splurge on yarn since I have already paid for my needles, and my patterns are free. :-)
