My IQ has gone up from 149 to 153 :O
I think it's because I realised one of the sequences was the fibonnaci sequence :P

Don't trust IQ tests. I'm routinely rated as a genius by them and I know I'm not.
The IQ tests have a sordid past involving proving the superiority of the Caucasian race and the then favored racial scale:
Western Europe and colonies
Eastern Europe and Scandinavia
Asians and American Natives
Black Africans
The test served it's function and proved racial superiority......by biasing the test.

I was more commenting on the increase as general trend shows IQ's tend to decrease as one gets older. Or at least that's what I discovered.
I was 12 years old when my IQ was 149. And my education level sucked.

How is/was that possible?

Biasing the test? Simple, it uses questions derived from western education. Take Pirate's example above about the Fibonacchi sequence. I have no idea if I would be able to come up with that pattern if I hadn't heard of it and learned it.
There are kind of biases in the very concept of testing itself. It's a poor indicator of most forms of intelligence. I dislike the test because of the prominence it had in nerd culture when I was growing up. The 'lazy smart' kids would brag about their IQ scores, make a big show about being too bored to do anything, and never accomplished anything. At most, IQ MIGHT be a weak indicator of potential.
If you want more information, a quick google search will lead you to some fascinating stuff.

I don't think it is a weak indicator of potential. I think what happens (at least from my observation) is that the smart kids that don't go anywhere have it too easy. They don't need to struggle to achieve, it just comes to them and they expect that to just happen. They think it doesn't matter if they don't try because they seem to think they have it all sorted, so they become lazy but then get out into the real world and don't like it. They reach a certain point and begin to realise they actually need to work but they just don't know how to. So they don't bother trying.
As for the western thing, I agree with you that at one time these things may have been biased, but the eastern world has more education that way back. Also, a lot of it is based on intuition. I didn't know the answers to the questions when I was a kid. I didn't sit and work out the patterns in my head before selecting an answer. I went by my intuition and chose which answers looked more correct and I got higher than all the members of my family. So I think part of it is also to do with how you read the questions and how you look at them. My mum made some really silly mistakes last night when she did it, and it was just because she wasn't reading the questions correctly.
