What a better example of Republican conservativism on review than the message of Lt. Governor Andre Bauer of South Carolina:

S.C. Lt. Gov. Andre Bauer Compares Helping Poor to Feeding Stray Animals
by Brian Montopoli
(AP)South Carolina Lt. Governor Andre Bauer, who hopes to succeed fellow Republican Mark Sanford as his state's governor, drew a comparison between government help for poor people and "feeding stray animals" – who, he noted, "breed."
"My grandmother was not a highly educated woman, but she told me as a small child to quit feeding stray animals," Bauer said during a town hall meeting, as the Greenville News reported over the weekend. "You know why? Because they breed. You're facilitating the problem if you give an animal or a person ample food supply. They will reproduce, especially ones that don't think too much further than that. And so what you've got to do is you've got to curtail that type of behavior. They don't know any better."

Wouldn't it be easier to just sterilize the poor and then feed them?

How about educating them?
There is nothing new under the sun. Read about Malthuasian theory. And he was an English clergyman.

Under our current economic model educating everyone would mean we'd have a lot of educated people in menial jobs and education would mean less.
The pressure to educate people has succeeded only in devaluing education. High School graduation means less now then it ever did. A bachelor's degree is often par for the course.
The only people winning are the universities.

So you are an advocate of this book and its philosophy?
http://www.amazon.com/Bell-Curve-Intell ... 0684824299"It really doesn't work to try to educate poor people, since they are stupid anyway. Or maybe they are people of color, who shouldn't have good paying jobs or responsibility, because they are inherently inferior-- ya know, its in their genes."
Immigrants get all the low paying jobs, because white people born in the country don't want them. Education doesn't mean everyone should have a bachelor's degree. Tech school can often get a person a good job and career. Those who don't care for a broader education, but who want to get out and earn a paycheck quickly, would rather not be sponges on society while earning multiple degrees, and partying while they do it.
Just to see what you will do with that response, since you seem to be looking for an argument.

Not at all, I find that philosophy disgusting. I also don't think that educating the uneducated alone will change our society. I personally think consecration is the only thing that can. It would let us get rid of class in general. Until then, there will be those on top of society and those on the bottom.
What I am knocking is the idea that if everyone had college degrees we would eliminate poverty.
In the meantime, I think everyone deserves to be fed. I can't ask the Lord for my daily bread unless I'm willing to help make sure everyone else gets theres.

It wouldn't. In fact, you would have the same distribution of rich and poor. What good is a degree if there is not a job available that requires it? In addition, poor people don't create jobs, the rich do. If there are no rich or poor, then nobody's doing any work or creating anything useful. That is why even the United Order is a capitalist system.
This is the best philosophy on the issue of charity....
The Greatest Economic CharityThe noblest charity is to prevent a man from accepting charity, and the best alms are to show and enable a man to dispense with alms.

Yeah, I guess we should let the elderly gentleman who can't walk and can't afford a wheelchair to just stay at home and die. We should let abused and neglected children be homeless and on the street. The disabled should just stop getting help. The single mom with three young children whose husband ran out on her should just quit asking for help for her babies.
I guess Jesus never said anything about helping the poor and needy. He never said, "Inasmuch as ye have done it unto the least of these thy brethren and sisters, ye have done it unto me." He never spoke the parable about the good Samaritan. Jesus didn't love children, want people to care for widows, or believe in helping the sick and disabled.
This mindset is craziness. TOTAL craziness.

Glad you are backing down, Nehor, on your presuppositions about my beliefs. Yes, I believe that those who are dedicated to pleasing God, and do so without fearing the consequences (I remember Korihor, as well as King Benjamin; some good stories in there) should be the backbone of our society, and should urge others to do the same. That would be the goal towards which we should all work, no matter what our beliefs.
