Left-wing college indoctrination (leads to ignorance)

The Shaping of the American Mind

College makes people more likely to support same-sex marriage and abortion on demand, and less likely to support school prayer and the American work ethic.

A college degree moves a person toward the Democrat/liberal side of the political spectrum, while greater civic knowledge moves a person toward the Republican/conservative side.

Gaining civic knowledge produces a more independent frame of mind than graduating from college.

College professors are more likely than non-professors to believe that America corrupts otherwise good people, the Ten Commandments are irrelevant and educators should instill more doubt among students.

I took the quiz and got 31 out of 33 missing questions 13 and 33. Of course I went to a conservative college but I grew up when k-12 schools had no trouble teaching accurate and relevant history as well as civics.

Colleges and universities allowing a wide range of ideas to be considered is certainly not without its hazards, eh Bc? Students and teachers may start to hold unorthodox views.

Indeed. But that's not the current reality. What we have is a pervasive left-wing view that of course is not only intolerant, but it has the power to enforce and impose itself.

Would the answer be to impose tight controls on what could be taught, in order to bring education back around to the right way of thinking or might it be to scrap education, as we know it, altogether and get back to the very basic?

No. What needs to happen is for conservatism to be accepted as a legitimate choice for answers and pov in the college setting and for a lot of lefties to admit that this indoctrination has been going on hypocritially apace. While some might favor some form of regulation, I see much promise in the area of student upheaval against this sort of thing which is quite appropo and ironically delicious in this case.
