The plan to nationalize healthcare is now in place. With Medicare further and purposely underfunded, the costs will continue to shift to insurance companies and those insured will not only be paying a Medicare tax directly to the government but they will also subsidize the Medicare cuts with their premiums. More and more people will get shifted to the government subsidy creating a huge voting block dependent on the dole (which slavery is the bread and butter of Democrats and all other leftwingers). As insurance companies go under, the government takes over and costs and taxes will spiral out of control and availablility and quality of services will go down. Don't say I didn't warn you.
Even if the Republicans take over in the next few cycles (the predictions are sunny, but overrated imho), it will be next to impossible to undo this travesty.

Australia, has a mixture of Public and Private healthcare.. Noone goes bankrupt when falling sick. This system has been accepted by both sides of politics after the Right found out how popular it was, especially with women. Now once women see how beneficial it is to her family it will be supported and GOP will like the conservative PM of Australia (and Bush mate) realised how popular a measure he originally opposed, now so popular did not dare change it. The Insurance comp will all those extra people to insure, and it will spread the cost. You Americans are so eay to scare with the word "socialism" applied to the most modest of helpful Government programs. I suppose you think the waiter who serves and is paid $3 an hour plus tips for a meal that makes you overweight should not have health insurance. I heard about the oversized meals you have from some work collegues (fatty, too much, enough for 2 people). Good for you Pres Obama despite the scare tatics of the GOP and Faux News

Apples and oranges. I'm not opposed to some welfare. However, the government here in the USA has been mismanaging health care and insurance for decades and rather than improve the system, they simply went farther down the same wrong road. Is Medicare in Australia underfunded?
Australia also benefits from realtively high resources to relatively low population which masks the ill effects of socialist policies for a long time. Europe used to be blessed with that, but is rapidly comming out it and we see the results.

From Yahoo News: Congress clears historic health care bill
By DAVID ESPO, AP Special Correspondent David Espo, Ap Special Correspondent – 32 mins ago
WASHINGTON – Summoned to success by President Barack Obama, the Democratic-controlled Congress approved historic legislation Sunday night extending health care to tens of millions of uninsured Americans and cracking down on insurance company abuses, a climactic chapter in the century-long quest for near universal coverage.
"This is what change looks like," Obama said a few moments later in televised remarks that stirred memories of his 2008 campaign promise of "change we can believe in."
Widely viewed as dead two months ago, the Senate-passed bill cleared the House on a 219-212 vote. Republicans were unanimous in opposition, joined by 34 dissident Democrats.
A second, smaller measure — making changes in the first — cleared the House shortly before midnight and was sent to the Senate, where Democratic leaders said they had the votes necessary to pass it quickly. The vote was 220-211.

Probably the same place all the liberals moved to when Bush II won his second term.

"More and more people will get shifted to the government subsidy creating a huge voting block dependent on the dole (which slavery is the bread and butter of Democrats and all other leftwingers)."
You mean like all the 'rugged, indivisualist Western Ranchers' so dependant on Federal subsidies and public land? What a bunch of whiners. They want government to take care of them here and whine about it there... must be they aren't going to make money from Obama.

Did I say anywhere that I supported both?

Bc, perhaps the Republicans could put together a plan undoing Obamacare, FDRcare, TRcare, Lincolncare and Jeffersoncare all in one inclusive legislative package.
