Shades !! I am derailing again.

For many Americans, "going to Safeway" is synonymous with "going to the grocery store."
For most of the Europeans, "Safeway" means nothing.

Safeway is one of North America's largest food retailers, with some 1,725 stores located mostly in the western, Midwestern, and mid-Atlantic regions of the US, as well as western Canada. It also operates regional supermarket companies, including The Vons Companies (primarily in Southern California), Dominick's Finer Foods (Chicago), Carr-Gottstein Foods (Alaska's largest retailer), Genuardi's Family Markets (eastern US), and Randall's Food Markets (Texas). Safeway owns grocery e-retailer GroceryWorks.com. Outside the US, Safeway owns 49% of Casa Ley, which operates about 155 food and variety stores in western Mexico.
Who cares any of North America's largest food retailers but people who live there?

Most folk in the UK know Safeway Supermarkets.
They were bought out by the Morrison's Supermarket about two years ago and now trade as Morrison's.

The only other Safeway that I have heard of is a brand of Condoms that hail from Sweden.

UK will be the 51th state of US. Or a district. Or a lapdog.

After UK inclined the bow before US-usage of billion, nothing surprises me.

We already shop at Walmart. Our UK Asda supermarkets were bought out by Walmart some years ago.

It may cause some confusion on 4th July if the UK become the 51st state, Para, would the UK celebrate Independence from itself? Might be a good idea. LOL
