Also, BYU has now fired its defensive coordinator.

For BYU sports apologists who believe that BYU football is relevant in some ill-defined way to missionary efforts, how important is having a team that isn't a tackling dummy for opponents to this vague missionary tool?

P.S. When I lived in California, BYU football games were satellite broadcast-ed (if that's a verb) to chapels in our stake, and members were encouraged to invite non-member friends to sit in the chapel and watch BYU football with no steaks or bratwursts or popcorn or beer or swearing at the screen (although these conditions were just assumed, not explicitly stated). That sounds like torture! How embarrassing to invite "non-member friends" to that kind of a football party. Totally agree with your max hall assessment!

i am too saddened by the picture to comment....i have seen 2 this year while training this year and i bums me out to think that they are killed for encroaching on "human territory"....:(

BYU sucks.....

I, too, am saddened by that picture.

The sad thing is BYU firing one of the coaches. This is during the season. If they believe he is not doing the job let him know his contract will not be renewed. You don't fire a coach during the season for anything other than dishonesty or major trouble.
BYU fired Rodger Reid, former Basketball coach, a few games into a season some years back. This three hours after the Athletic Director went on broadcast TV and radio praising the man and assuring all his job was safe. Then, a few hours later they fired Reid. Coach Reid heard about it from a friend who called him as he was listening to it on the radio.
BYU has its priorities sorely mixed up. Encourage excellence rather than look for scapegoats. An institution claiming inspiration and leadership of The Lord sure doesn't seem to have much when it comes to firing people.
That this coach is black says a lot about BYU "leadership". Racism played a part in this one whether they admit it or not. Will they erase him from all archived photos like the Soviets used to do when they 'disappeared' someone?

I would just like to add my condolences for the cougar.

A sad end for a noble creature, but a happy outcome for BYU haters.

I wonder if the LDS church's hunting reserve has ever offered cougars to be hunted and killed for profit?
