I'm a bit concerned since the previous Tron looked more "Computer-y." In other words, the current one looks LESS "Tron-like" and thus less cool.

Should I be worried?

I think they reflected the current trends in computer gaming well, while still maintaining a "Tronish" look.

Cool!!

I have been looking forward to this movie coming out. I didn't realize it was out yet. My last day of the semester is Monday. Maybe we can go next week.

I'll try and not give too much away, Shades, but I think they did a pretty good job of playing with what is feasible today with CGI to basically redo the old movie while also commenting a little on where the writer of the film was when he wrote "Tron" versus where he is today. It would be hard for me to imagine watching a movie with the same eyes I brought to the first Tron as a kid. The disc fighting, the light cycles...was there a movie other than star wars that captured the imagination like that one? Not a sci-fi movie anyways.

But for those of us who were young then and have watched some of the old Tron become reality, maybe the new Tron is meant to do something more than just show the way to a brave new digital world. The old Tron seemed aimed at introducing computers to the public and many of the base terms and ideas were used blatantly in naming people, things, places, etc. Today, we are saturated in this world. I think the new movie plays with that idea; with large segments of the population living behind avatars of their real selves, living in virtual environments...

But that's making it sound deeper than it actually was. I enjoyed it, my daughter enjoyed it, and wife enjoyed it. So I'd feel safe in recommending it. Besides, it has Daft Punk in the movie as well as having written the soundtrack...http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=svpLw7e-4ds&feature=fvw. How cool is that?

I'm a huge Tron fan, and I really enjoyed it.

At work, some guys were complaining that the plot made no sense and was full of holes. I just looked at them and said "Well, it wouldn't be Tron if the plot made sense..." I felt like they did an excellent job keeping the spirit of the original film and continuing the story.

My greatest fear for "childhood movies revisited" is that I'll have another "Phantom Menace" experience (the shock, the sinking feeling in the pit of my stomach, the hope it won't get any worse and then it does, the feeling it will never end...) I was pleasantly surprised to find myself enjoying Tron Legacy almost the entire time, and I was really happy that I spent the time and money to see it in Imax.

I know I inserted a lot of my own interpretation into the movie, but I thought the plot was fairly cohesive. My version of it, anyway. :)

I saw it and loved it. It was more of a philosophical movie than a technological one, I think XD.

Liked it but a lot of the plot elements they built for the world had no payoff and the beginning of the movie should have been about 10 minutes shorter. The Tron subplot made no sense unless you'd seen the original which annoyed some of the people I went with.

I was glad I saw it. 3.5 stars
