This is the real reason lds-inc and paranoidboyd and the boys don't want gay marriages.
It will make genealogy name finding more difficult.

Worried that you were losing your position as the drive-by dumbass?
Don't worry, your position is safe.

What possible difference would it make to genealogy work if gay folks changed their names? How would it make "name finding" more difficult than when women change their names when they marry?

I don't see how this would make names harder to find, either.
But, for the record, my gay uncle and his partner of twenty+ years use both of their last names hyphenated.

Straight people don't even change their names when they marry these days. I mean, what for, chances are they won't be married long anyway.

I've always wondered what two hyphenated names people do when they have a child. Giving all four names is impractical and it seems unfair to just pick the first of your two hyphenated names. I wonder how that decision gets made. What sounds pleasing to the ear? Paper, rock, scissors tournament? I must know.

Among the family and acquaintances I know, I don't know any who have. But anyone can change their name to whatever they like, including a unpronounceable symbol

No. But it would reduce the number of lines. Unless of course one was heterosexually married beforehand and had children. In that case, one wouldn't be "gay" in the first place.

Elton John and his Canadian civil partner David Furnish keep their own names.
Apparently, now that they have a surrogate child, Elton John is listed as Father and David Furnish is listed as Mother on the child's birth certificate???
Now that could cause a headache for future Genealogists.
