If LDS President David O. McKay had granted the request of Elder Ezra Taft Benson to be the running mate of Governor George C. Wallace in 1968 in the Presidential race, an independent BYU could have booked games with powerhouses Texas, Alabama and North Carolina decades earlier.
Thankfully President McKay did not let us go astray.
