Nobody seems to be stopping by anymore. It might help to define what this is, and what we are trying to do.

I would be happy to submit my stuff in bite size chunks if that's less daunting.

But, to be very clear, my fear is that some on this board will use what I write against me at some point. I don't know how or in what venue, but that's my fear.

It will be very easy to: a)steal what I write as one's own, or (more probably) b)tuck it away for it's complete idiocy to be used as amunition at some point.

Thoughts?

I agree that this part of the board seems pretty dead. I have a short story I would like to submit, but I guess I have been waiting for someone to break the ice. Maybe other people have just been waiting to see submissions?

Hoops, go for it. I for one would love to read your stories. The last story I read was "At The Beach" and I would really love to purge that from my memory.

Maybe we should trade stories via email? I have a short story as well, that I've been working on and that might get you a feel for what I write and my style. Then, if it's not your bag then we know.

Hi Hoops,

This is a brand new forum and people may not even know it exists; some may not know how to use it.

I think it is still in the creation phase, (think day one..smile). Hopefully, as people visit it can develop to be a positive addition to the board and a fun place to learn and grow, and improve our writing skills.

I'm not a writer, hence cannot critique writing projects, but do want to learn from others.

for what it's worth, I know NOTHING about the other forms of art (and one could easily argue I know just as little about writing) and I will crit those anyway.

I'll see if I can get my short up today or soon. Then let the barbs and arrows fly!!!

Oh, and while I'm here, as I've mentioned, I'm working on several stories, it might help if there is a particular genre that a potential crit would rather tackle - or avoid. I guess I'm still finding my niche so that's why I'm all over the genre board. I've had several of the women in my writing group tell me I should offer something a little (a lot?) more on the spicy side. Would that be inappropriate?

No, it should be fine.

I don't mind mild erotic fiction, and if it is too much, I just skip over it.

When I dip into romances (new sense of the word), I generally skip about 1/10 of them.

I think Hoops would make a GREAT guinea pig.

What could possibly be better (and safer) than to have a Christian heretic test the waters. :)

What the hey!! I'll jump in there. I'm not terribly happy with my opening 3 paras, so if you'll bear that in mind, then, yeah, I'll post.

Jersey Girl: yeah, each submission should be its, it's own thread and it should begin with "Sub". I'lll make sure I do that.

I will only post half of ch 1., so that there is not to, too much to tackle at once. I hope to, too post it today and we'll see. (covering all my spelling bases so that I don't get rung up the Dr. Shades spelling flagpole)

I am quite anxious, though. Criticism I can handle (I had one critter look at my first short and write, "I don't even know what this is supposed to be!), but ridicule I fear. Still, gotta have the stones if one going to get out there and doing something significant. May I borrow a couple from somebody?

I understand, Hoops, that sex sells. I have an an acquaintance that likes to write "steamy" stories (personal gratification?). He got up the courage to self publish a collection of his stories and asked me (along with many other people) to critique it before publication .

From a literary point of view, the stories were very painful to read. The plots were bad, the structure was bad and the grammar made me wince.

I didn't want to hurt his feelings, so (without mentioning the above) I just suggested that he hire an editor to help out with some of those things.

He never did get an editor and published it anyway. He made it available on Amazon and a few other places and has actually sold quite a few.

Spice is nice in the publishing world.
