I've often wondered about natural entheogens. I can only guess that they exist for one of two reasons; to enlighten, or to deceive. Coincidence can't be an option, in my mind.

Sometimes after smoking a little grass, I would find myself becoming my own personal shrink. It sounds pretty bizarre, but I found it quite therapeutic. It seemed (at the time) to bring out a hidden wisdom within myself. Then again, I've been brought up in the LDS church wherein I've been taught that such things lower one's spiritual defenses against the adversary. It certainly wouldn't be pleasant to have these fears dancing around in your head while experiencing a powerful trip :)

Also, a good long fast (36-48 hrs w/ water) during which I avoid all uses of TV, Computers, Cell phones, etc, helps me reach a higher level of spiritual awareness when I find myself in a spiritual rut.

What if "spiritual awareness" is not an enlarged awareness of external reality, but in fact, an expansion of an inner subjective world? That does nothing to solve for atheistic leanings (disbelief in an external God-being).

My question isn't meant to disparage the search for "spiritual awareness", only that a person not ascribe something to such an awareness that may not exist (a greater understanding of external, objective reality).

Then again, as some mystics intimate, reality is nothing more than an outpicturing of our subjective inner world, of consciousness, thus, changing ourselves on the inside, changes our world on the outside.

I wonder if this is censorship due to my promotion of medicines that have been suppressed for the past ars and still are, (as a repression of human freedom), or, if it is because the psychic phenomena is "off topic". The thng is, the whole reason I converted to Mormonism in the first place is due to what I perceived to be paranormal experiences, therefore, it makes sense to analyze these as the foundation of belief in the first place, but whatever.

I would wholeheartedly agree. The spiritual aspect is the sole reason I remained within Mormonism. If the topic were moved anywhere, it ought to reside in the Celestial forum.

I have observed over the past few years that very few members here have little interest in spiritual topics. It's the white elephant in the room.
