The Car Spa

So, I've got a little blog here on MDB (Journey of a Jersey Girl: I don't know where I'm going. You come too.) which is closed to most of the community mainly due to some of the content, and I thought I would test drive this idea from a slightly edited blog entry here in the Old Testament, to see if I can pick up some other ideas for my idea. :-)
The Car Spa
This summer was the first summer in about 3 years that there were no schedules, no one telling me where to be and what to be doing. It was, for the most part, peaceful.
Finally.
Somewhere about the middle of July I realized that I felt rested and relaxed. Maybe it was the swimming. Maybe it was the fact that I made a dent in de-cluttering the basement. Whatever it was, I felt centered.
Finally.
When I thought about going back to work, I decided to find ways to carry that sense of peace over into my work days. Yes, I am going to join a fitness club so I can swim as much as I want. But what I'm talking about is seeking peace during the work day.
When the weather is good, I can walk or take a drive during my lunch hour. But when winter sets in, that's pretty much over except for taking the occasional drive. What I usually do during winter on my lunch break is either stay in the building or sit in my car with a fleece throw.
In keeping with my fall resolutions, which mainly involve NOT doing what I usually do, I hit on the idea of the Car Spa.
The Car Spa, simply put, is using the private space that is mine (my car) during my lunch hour to do things that are creative or self nurturing.
Here are some of my ideas of what one can do in their car on a one hour lunch break to "get away":
1. Manicure
2. Moisturizer and socks for feet
3. Needlework
4. Make pot holders (Found the loom/loops during the de-clutter)
5. Read something not work related
6. Read Magazines
7. Listen to Jeffrey Thompson CD's
8. Read on a Kindle (if I ever get one)
9. Eat Heath Bars (shut up, okay?)
10. Crochet
11. Write in a journal
12. Make Note Cards
13. Assemble a scrap book page (croppin' on wheels)
14. Eat a healthy snack (to counter the Heath Bar days)
15. Take a power nap (airline travel neck pillow)
16. Make Paper Art Pom Pom's (every scrap studio needs these)
17. Read the IKEA catalog ;-)
And of course, the ever present fleece throw because it feels good.
I'm going to get some sort of cute little container, maybe a red canvas basket, to put in my car for my spa basket.
What other ideas can you think of for the Car Spa?
:-)
