Oh no, SNOW

Let it be recorded in the annals of human history that today, October 8, 2011, marks the first snow fall of the season in the general location of the Jersey homestead.
It was predicted as a "light dusting". It's up to 4 inches at this writing. And still snowing. Light dusting, um, no.
I realize that there are many reasons to appreciate this change in the weather for example, the landscape is covered in a beautiful blanket of white, it outlines the trees, makes the air feel fresh and renewed, and it makes you want to curl up in a down throw and read or do homey things like bake bread, a pot of soup, light scented candles, build a cozy fire and that sort of thing. Skiers and snowboarders are no doubt celebrating the onset of winter snows.
But it wears on you.
After a few months of lugging around in boots, shoveling and plowing the drive, and walking like a penguin every blessed place you go, you begin to think about how you're going to be doing this until May or more.
Ugh.
I will try to change my attitude this season. Try to think positively and appreciate this. In some odd way, even though I hate the many months of snow, it all seems familiar and is usually how we live at least 8 months out of the year.
I suppose there is some sense of comfort in that.
