'The Jefferson Lies' by David Barton, purporting to refute the idea that Jefferson was not a mainline Christian, has been pulled by Christian publisher Thomas Nelson, who consulted with several Christian Historians before pulling the book.
It is extremely unusual for a publisher to pull a successful book after publication.
George Mason University's History News Network voted Barton's book the least credible history book in print. Lest you think this is some left wing group, the runnerup was Howard Zinn's 'A People's History of the United States'.
Barton has said the that Jesus would oppose the capital gains tax and the minimum wage. Barton has been applauded by Glen Beck and Michelle Bachman "I never listen to David Barton without learning a lot of new things" said historian Newt Gingrich.
Mike Huckabee said “I almost wish that there would be something like a simultaneous telecast and all Americans would be forced, forced at gunpoint to listen to every David Barton message, and I think our country would be better for it.”
A friend of Rick Perry's, Barton served an an 'expert' to review the State's Social Studies program.
