If Mitt is going to be our next leader...

Post by _moksha »

Mitt is a patrician in the truest sense of the word and he was pandering to fellow fat cats in Park City for that $50,000 a plate dinner. He wasn't really spouting an LDS misunderstanding of the admonition to help the poor and needy. The wealthy in many religious traditions abandon concepts of ethics and morality when it impinges on their ability to acquire and hoard money in an unfettered manner. Mitt told the audience on hand what they wanted to hear, nothing more.

I do not wish to denigrate Mitt as a man capable of much compassion. He has probably done many acts of kindness throughout his life. However, holding up the have nots for ridicule by the haves is never a good way to show compassion - even if that is what the haves like to hear. Romney's job as a leader is to elevate us to a level where we have concern for all. No citizen should be forced to live a life that is short, nasty, brutish and mean. Not when there is a government for the people that can intervene. Ways to simply line the pocketbooks of a few is bad policy when others may starve and go homeless.

If we must have Mitt, let as have a Mitt for all of us.

Mitt is truly a Patrician (Julius Caesar?) and it's reasonable to assume that he will follow the 'Patrician' line when it comes to the Plebs.

I find his compassion for animals (dogs on vacation) an excellent example.

I think we all know that it is much more profitable in a fund raising situation to delineate the problems of the wealthy few than to drone on about the troubles of the undeserving poor. The ragged masses that will not vote for him anyway.

Or at least those that have Patrician qualities.
This, or any other post that I have made or will make in the future, is strictly my own opinion and consequently of little or no value.

That is an excellent summary of Mitt Romney's primary trait. For once we agree.
We hate to seem like we don’t trust every nut with a story, but there’s evidence we can point to, and dance while shouting taunting phrases.

People need to be able to fend for themselves without governmental pandering. If Obama really wants to help the poor, all he needs to do first is lower fuel prices. Gas, oil and electricity will go down. That is what started this whole mess. We have all sorts of oil reserves. Free them up and then at the same time encourage the invention of new "cheap" alternatives. If I have more money to spend on things besides fuel, I will likely buy something else besides foreign oil. If Obama wants to help the poor, all he needs to do is encourge manufacturers to remain here and insist they hire people they might train to "win" the tax credits. If Obama really wants to help the poor he can start by making health care more affordable and that is done by ending lawsuits where no malace can be proven. If Obama really cares about the poor, he would lower the cost of education and one way to do that is to end busing students all over the place and bring public teacher's salaries and benefits more in line with the families they serve. If Obama really cared about the poor, he would insist that Congress and the Senate receive benefit & wage reductions to at least match the middles income citizens. In that way they might have some idea as to how the other half lives and not think themselves so high and mighty. If Obama really wants to help the poor, he would desire to lower the taxes on wages and tremendously raising the taxes on bonuses. If Obama really wanted to help the poor he would strive with health insurance providers to lower the rates on those who do not drink or smoke and that regularly exercise and keep their weight in check---- and not just by a few token dollars. If Obama really wanted to help tghe poor, he would promote extreemly high taxes on luxury automobiles and no tax on economy cars. If Obama really wanted to help the poor, he wouldn't worry about gay marriage but how normal everyday average people are going to get along. So you see, I do not feel Obama really cares for the poor --- he only wants their votes. And some are just dumb enough to think Obama really does think of something besides the Democratic agenda.
