Romney Pulls another Lie from Heritage

Regarding the superfluous whining about oil production:

"As a matter of fact, oil production is down 14 percent EACH YEAR on federal land and gas production is down 9 percent. Why? because the president cut in half the number of licenses and permits for drilling on federal land and in federal water."

What’s the truth? Oil production did fall by 14 percent on federal lands - onshore and offshore - but that was only in one year, from 2010 to 2011. And it was mainly the result of fallout from the Deepwater Horizon oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico in 2010. But Obama is correct, that since he took office, oil production on federal lands is up.

In both 2009 and 2010, oil production increased ... so even with the 14 percent drop last year, overall production on federal land is still up 10.6 percent since 2008.

But natural gas production on federal lands is down, and has been declining since 2003, according to the Energy Information Administration, mainly because of a decline in offshore natural gas drilling.

If Obama's actual record was half as bad as the GOP is claiming, why wouldn't they use facts rather than lies in order to illustrate it?

You liberals really are completely clueless....

You quote some liberal malarkey and then you think those are the "real" facts, when in fact they OMIT important facts to make their malarkey claims.

People who are in the business, people who know the business, people who are smart businessmen, know exactly what they are talking about. And some dumb liberals who selectively quote some stats to try and sound intelligent isn't actual facts or intelligence.

It made me laugh the amount of times Obama in the debate tried to insult Romney's intelligence as if he was simply stating the facts and Romney wasn't. Predicable elitist.....

It's no different than liberal "facts" on Health care. People that actually work in the industry will tell you there were drastic cuts by Obama on benefits, THEY KNOW, because they actually do the job every day.

People in Real Estate will tell you that Obama's policy's DOUBLED the housing crash, because THEY KNOW, they know the new laws and rules put in place.

Likewise, those in the Oil and Gas industries know exactly what is happening.... Yet, you would believe some liberal selective quote mining of some "stats" because after all, it LOOKS INTELLIGENT, and "factual", over the men and women and experts in the industries for which Romney associates with and other experts such as Heritage also get their information from.

Morons!

Does anyone else find it ironic that Obama is campaigning on increased production of fossil fuels?

fallout?
a 6-month moratorium is not fallout, it was just bad policy.
As for the years that Obama saw an increase, it was not due to his policy those increases were due to Bush's policies for exploration and hydrofracking(yuck)

Obama claiming credit for increased production may be a worse lie than anyone completely blaming him for the reduction.

Is it likewise ironic that Romney's energy plan is based on a lot of wind?

Are you serious? The fallout was the fact that we were flooding the Gulf with oil with no end in sight.

The moratorium was the only responsible thing to do given the revelation that oil companies had been taking short cuts on safety standards. At the time there was still no end in sight as the gulf was being flooded with oil day in and day out. When the Department of the Interior issued the moratorium directive on May 30, Secretary Ken Salazar published a statement saying, "Deepwater production from the Gulf of Mexico will continue subject to close oversight and safety requirements, but deepwater drilling operations must safely come to a halt. With the BP oil spill still growing in the Gulf, and investigations and reviews still underway, a six-month pause in drilling is needed, appropriate, and prudent."

Oh the horror! A drop in oil production was the last thing Americans were concerned about at the time, but the moratorium itself had no effect on wells already producing oil.

As for the years that Obama saw an increase, it was not due to his policy those increases were due to Bush's policies for exploration and hydrofracking(yuck)

This is the same kind of crazy thinking that says Obama shouldn't get credit for killing Usama bin Ladin, because you know, it was the "Bush policies" that did that.

Obama claiming credit for increased production may be a worse lie than anyone completely blaming him for the reduction.

Yes of course, because correlation only equals causation when something negative happens under a Democrat President. It should be noted you've done nothing but baldly assert the same horse crap that was spewed on the Rush Limbaugh show today.

Feeling better?

I just proved beyond all reasonable doubt that Romney lied before millions of people and didn't get his facts straight. All you can think to do is give him a pass and then re-frame the issue in a way that suggests Obama is lying, but you do so based on no evidence other than your say so.
