is this a plus or a minus?

Post by _Tarski »

My birthday came a few days ago and I was lamenting having turned 57 when my wife informed me that I was only turning 56!
I had apparently been laboring under the false belief that I was 56 for most of the year when in fact I was only 55.
Did I just get a pleasant surprise (I'm younger than I thought) and thus should be happy or did I somehow miss out the enjoyment of being only 55 and thus should feel ripped off?

(This is my contribution to dilution
---Cheers)

when believers want to give their claims more weight, they dress these claims up in scientific terms. When believers want to belittle atheism or secular humanism, they call it a "religion". -Beastie

Could be that your brain is older than you are. Just blame it on Y2K.

Every single day for the rest of your life, you'll be even older than you are now (how depressing is that?) The chance to actually be younger than you literally thought you were is a precious gift--savor it!
It’s relatively easy to agree that only Homo sapiens can speak about things that don’t really exist, and believe six impossible things before breakfast. You could never convince a monkey to give you a banana by promising him limitless bananas after death in monkey heaven.

Maybe your wife is wrong. Maybe you're really turning 57 after all.

I was taught at Church that if you thought about boinking someone, that was as bad as actually doing it.

But you weren't taught that from LDS doctrine.

So it must equally be true to say that as long as you are thinking about paying tithing that's as good as actually paying it."

Since the previous wasn't from LDS doctrine, it doesn't follow.

I did the exact same thing last year. I felt like it was a bonus.

OTOH, I was joking around with some younger colleagues last week and informed one I was 55. Then it suddenly struck me that I was really 50 and had added 5 years to my age. I turned to another colleague and laughingly told her that I had just added five years to my age when it suddenly struck me I was right the first time and was really 55 after all. I actually had to subtract the year of my birth to be sure.

Don't know what that means, and don't want to know.

Wait until someone asks you for your phone number and the only one that comes to mind is from 25 years ago. I can remember my address and phone number from when I was ten without thinking but struggle to get my current phone number out. I am 57. (Maybe I should check to make sure. Now if I only could remember where my birth certificate is! :surprised: )
