Suppose the Church found a legal way to monitor all the email, online, and phone communications of its members, and had the technology to do so. Suppose you were brought in as a consultant under non-disclosure to advise on the implementation of such a monitoring system. A representative of the Church advises you that the ONLY reason such a system is under consideration, is to weed out the apostates, who have become an increasing problem for the Church. One of the main red flags is political affiliation. Members who admit to being Democrats, liberals, or sympathize with liberal positions will be investigated, and your input is also welcomed on how to deal with these members as this has not yet been determined. Other red flags would be representing oneself as conservative or LDS, but questioning church policy or conservative positions like say, supporting unions.

How would you advise? Would you support such a monitoring program? How would you recommend handling those determined to be liberals or wolves in sheeps clothing?

"Looks like Congress can't stop the NSA from monitoring every nook and cranny of our lives after all. In an explosive feature in Wired, James Bamford reveals that the National Security Agency has revived a program called "Total Information Awareness," which aims to collect and sift through every electronic communication around the world. Yep, that includes those made by Americans—even though Congress passed legislation in 2003 to stop "TIA" from spying on US citizens.........A proposed NSA data center in Utah would target phone calls and emails from around the world. "

obviously your post is just a coincidence with the NSA center in..... UTAH!

I wouldn't support it and the Church wouldn't either.

How would you recommend handling those determined to be liberals or wolves in sheeps clothing?

Merely by teaching the doctrine. Liberals can't speak up in Church about their philosophy without opposing the Church on critical doctrines. Those who are publicly opposed to the doctrine should be removed from the records. "Modern Liberalism" (as opposed to Classical Liberalism which Modern Liberalism is at war with) and "Democrat" are merely convenient and accurate catch-all words so we don't have to go looking for Liberals and Democrats, just those who oppose the doctrine and all Liberals and Democrats will be in that category.

i'm pretty sure the church would support it based on the SCMC. I'm glad you don't support it, though.
