Guns - the actual truth!

This video shows clearly from every claim made of this particular critique of how liberals use facts to lie, by both misusing the facts, and ignoring the actual facts.

It is an irony, because they claim they have the facts, they have the stats, they have the science, but in fact they cherry pick those things, and ignore what the facts, science and stats actually say, which is the opposite of their claims.

This guy is so misinformed it is ridiculous. A sobering study from 1998 of injuries and death due to firearms in the home found that for every time a gun in the home was used in a self-defense or legally justifiable shooting, there were four unintentional shootings, seven criminal assaults or homicides, and 11 attempted or completed suicides.

How so? I thought the link was very good and well supported. Did you watch the full thing? ldsfaq's description is a bit unhinged and doesn't do it justice.

That doesn't respond to the content of ldsfaq's link, nor does it really tell us what we want to know about the relative risk of gun ownership. For example, "used" here means "discharged," but we know that brandishing a gun can be sufficient to defend oneself. That's usually the hope.

That's an excellent point. At this point in my life I don't even own a gun. But you can't tell me a certain amount of fear doesn't enter the minds of thieves when it's very possible I could be armed.

I'm not even talking about a deterrent effect in this case. I mean someone threatens you, you pull out a gun, they run away. Situation defused. That scenario, which happens probably more frequently than any shots being fired, doesn't get counted in that particular statistic.

From John Cleese Letter to America ("Notice of Revocation of Independence") :

7. You will no longer be allowed to own or carry guns. You will no longer be allowed to own or carry anything more dangerous in public than a vegetable peeler. Because we don't believe you are sensible enough to handle potentially dangerous items, you will require a permit if you wish to carry a vegetable peeler in public.

14. You will learn to resolve personal issues without using guns, lawyers or therapists. The fact that you need so many lawyers and therapists shows that you're not adult enough to be independent. Guns should only be handled by adults. If you're not adult enough to sort things out without suing someone or speaking to a therapist then you're not grown up enough to handle a gun.

15. Please tell us who killed JFK.

Also, countries with strict gun control have to put up with this sort of thing:

I don't think ldsfqs goes far enough.

It's becoming clear that there is really only one solution to criminal violence in this country. Legalize hand grenades.

Grenades have been illegal for private ownership since the nineteen thirties. Statistics show that there has been a steady increase in gun violence since then. Coincidence?

I'm pretty sure the Second Amendment protects our rights to own anti-personnel weapons.

If every school teacher had a grenade in his or her desk drawer (even the students might carry one for protection), think how it would deter school shootings.

In an emergency situation, you don't even need to be accurate in using them. Anywhere close will do nicely to kill or disable the intruder (or destroy those tasteless plastic flamingos on your neighbor's front lawn).

They're handy for home protection, too. Especially if you're defending against government troops trying to take away your rights (we all know how hard that can be).

For those candy assed liberals that might say they are only for killing people, they would be for sport as well. If you have a good pitching arm, they would be great for deer hunting (no scope necessary). If you are a fisherman, toss just one grenade into a pond and watch those lunkers rise to the surface. Just row out, pick up your limit and leave the rest to rot.

Of course, there is some chance of collateral damage, but that is the price we have to pay for freedom.

Remember, grenades are outlawed, so only outlaws have grenades.

Well, you never know when you're going to go Full Congo on someone:

I deleted this clip from You Tube because it inserted a 30-second commercial after I linked it. God. I just wanted to show Michael Crichton's murderous white gorillas getting massacred in a poorly crafted movie sequence. Can't a man steal someone else's intellectual material without having to sit through a commercial any more?

I have a feeling if we completely outlawed gun ownership in this country we'd see murder and suicide rates plummet similar to other countries who have done the same.
