Coffee

Post by _Always Changing »

Recently my coffee maker died. They last only six months for me. So I went for what I really have wanted for a long time. This is an example. No advertising intended. Cold brew. The directions were in japanese, so I went looking, and discovered that it requires chopsticks to stir the slurry. I also got a grinder, and discovered that it is so good, I needed to go with half caf four o'clock beans. I steep the ground bean for 24 hours, and dilute the concentrate by half.

Has anyone else discovered cold brew?

When my coffer maker starts running slow, I run a full carafe of white vinegar through it. That seems to keep it going (removes the lime that accumulates due to our hard water). Although, they still don't last much more than a year and a half for me (heating element eventually goes out).

I always grind my own beans. The coffee seems to have a 'brighter' flavor. Does that word make sense?

I have never heard of 'cold brew'. I'll check it out.
This, or any other post that I have made or will make in the future, is strictly my own opinion and consequently of little or no value.

Definitely a step upwards. Sure. Ground beans exposed to air and heat lose a lot of the aroma. Part of my problem with coffee was the burnt taste, especially when it has been on the hot plate too long. All gone, now.

Good Coffee Maker

Post by _MeDotOrg »

I hate it when my coffee maker dies. I'm on my fourth one right now. (Put an ad on Craigslist). And you know what? The new one never makes coffee quite like the old one! I wish they wouldn't wear out so quickly!

I guess the only good thing is, with so many people out of work, it's easy to hire a new one. It's just getting more expensive with health insurance and everything...

This ranks with Moksha's sense of humor. Thank you.
