The Policy
Actually, Lenin tried to implement pure socialism when he first came to power, but when his policies caused the Russian economy to collapse all around him, in 1921 he abandoned literal socialism and replaced it with a pragmatic, expedient reform program called the “New Economic Policy.” Under NEP, Lenin permitted various privatizations while seeking state domination of the “commanding heights” of the economy.
President Obama has emulated Lenin in striving to increase state control over such “commanding heights” of our economy as energy, health care, finance, and education, with smaller forays into food, transportation
...
Clearly Barack Obama’s policies have a distinctly Marxian flavor to them. Does that mean we are destined for socialism? Certainly not yet. But Marx knew that his 10 strategies would move a society toward socialism. The great free-market economist Ludwig von Mises agreed with Marx that government interventions breed further interventions and tend inexorably toward socialism. (See his class essay, “Middle-of-the-Road Policy Leads to Socialism.”)
Ok, so for good or bad one can argue about economic policy...some provide valid support for one and some provide valid support for others.
But
There is another vital point to understand about Marxist-Leninist economics: The greatest damage is done to the middle class. With his customary bloodthirsty malevolence, Lenin said, “The way to crush the bourgeoisie [middle class] is to grind them between the millstones of taxation and inflation.”
So, the argument is...Obama supports an economic policy intent on the destruction of the middle class. Granted this destruction has not blossomed yet, but the seeds are being planted now...and watered.
I am curious, is this Policy of Destruction necessary for the future of America's prosperity or for America's demise?

Re: The Policy
Everyone knows that Marxism leads to Marxism. That is why liberals have stopped using the failed tactic of revolution endemic in the last century and has been subverting the media instead. CBS's (via Slate) call for the destruction of the Republican Party for example instead of reporting the news and it's consequences.

This certainly feels like what is going on now.
And when the confederates saw Jackson standing fearless as a stone wall the army of Northern Virginia took courage and drove the federal army off their land.

Apparently not, when all you can ever think to do is recoil back into your little bubble and return to the idiotic comparisons between Obama and Communists.

it has been my experience, especially around here, that when a post is unable to provide a legitimate rebuttal, it often resorts to insults. Granted, Obama got re-elected on such a "style over substance" strategy but it is considered by most to be small-ball, as is being revealed by the ineptitude of this second term.

This is a very superficial parallel. The most free economy in the world, according to the right-wing Heritage Foundation, is Hong Kong.

Some facts about Hong Kong:
subj wrote:“commanding heights” of our economy as energy
Energy production is government controlled.
Subj wrote:health care
Hong Kong has universal healthcare:
wiki wrote:Hong Kong is one of the healthiest places in the world.[1] Because of its early health education, professional health services, and well-developed health care and medication system, Hongkongers enjoy a life expectancy of 85.9 for females and 80 for men,[2] which is the second highest in the world
Subj wrote:finance
wiki wrote:..The government has intervened to create economic institutions such as the Hong Kong Stock Market
Subj wrote:education
Hong Kong has public education. Considered competitive by world standards.

wiki wrote:The dense space also led to a highly developed transportation network with public transport travelling rate exceeding 90 percent,[31] the highest in the world
In addition, all land is owned by the government. Gun control - don't plan on owning a gun. Pollution controls are up the yin yang. Of course, per capita GDP is among the highest, and according to an important right-wing think tank, it's the most economically free.
Hong Kong isn't an anomaly, the top of Heritage's list are all "Sim-City" economies; Signapore, Australia, they include a whole lot of government involvement. All have universal health care and government controls the typical stuff right-wingers often complain about. This does not mean I believe the US should immediately adopt universal healthcare, nor am I a fan of Obama. However, it's quite obvious that universal healthcare and public works are not incompatible with economic freedom, at least by the standards of the self-proclaimed right-wing experts on what economic freedom means.
It might be instructive for the sound-byte conservatives to figure out then, what the economically free countries have in common that secures their positions, in the minds of the self-proclaimed champions of right-wing economic freedom.
Lou Midgley 08/20/2020: "...meat wad," and "cockroach" are pithy descriptions of human beings used by gemli? They were not fashioned by Professor Peterson.

It might also be instructive to read the references you provide....(and note that their score has been dropping steadily over the past 5 years)
"Although Hong Kong remains number one in the Index rankings, the uniqueness of its commitment to economic freedom has eroded in recent years, and any further implementation of populist policies that empower the bureaucracy or undermine the principle of limited government could threaten its standing in the future." (emphasis mine)
