Gainsay what? That God's desires via the Bible tell us flat taxes are the most fair? There's so many wrong presuppositions underlying that I don't know where to begin nor am I interested in doing so. Dr. Carson is a quite famous young earth creationist because of his academic position. That's what he's known for. I've never seen anything about him outside of that context, so I commented on it. But now that you mention it, you try to trade on the fact that he's a neurosurgeon "lecturing" Obama to imply he's teaching a lesson via the authority such a prestigious career confers. So I guess the fact that he could just as well "lecture" on the earth being 6000 years old and evolution being a Satanic lie deflates that puffery.

Once again EA misses the point which is that Carson mentioned economic principles that we already know to be true such as the futility of over taxing the rich. I'm not surprised you can find some of them in the Bible, God being a free market Capitalist.

It's impressive that a person that simple minded made it through both undergrad and medical school.

His kind of solutions remind me of the spam email that was making the rounds a few years ago, wherein Robin Williams was quoted as saying (he didn't, it was made up) that we should just offer the OPEC countries $10 per oil barrel, and they can take it or leave it.

Honestly, I wonder how much longer the LDS Church can survive on a flat tithing rate. I won't be surprised if we start hearing about how "the more we have, the more we need to give to the Church...10% is the just the least for those with the least faith".

Granted that my faith has been in a state of crisis, but I think 10% is a lot. From what I've seen, 10% is the maximum people will give these days. I wonder how many people openly don't pay anything and keep their temple recommends. I know our mission president in Latin America approved people for baptism who were openly unwilling to pay tithing.

And yet, the only system of government God ever set up was a Monarchy. God is obviously not the great capitalist you want him to be.
