This video nothing to do with any of the stuff that normally gets discussed here, but I thought it was pretty entertaining so here it is...

Disclaimer -- As an RC helicopter pilot, I'm obligated to point out that the activities depicted in this video are extremely dangerous and should not be attempted or emulated anyone viewing it. All the same, I'm glad this wanker got it on video...

I had to look up "RC helicopter". Now it's obviously "Remote Control"! It looks like a lot of fun. Especially with the remote camera.

When I was a kid I had a flying model of a P52 fighter. It was controlled by two strings and only flew in a circle. This looks much better.

Thanks, Erotic.

Glad you liked it. Yeah, the range and breadth of technology available to the average hobbyist for, say, $500 is truly amazing. Back in the old days, the term "helicopter shot" referred to a full-sized, man-carrying rotary wing aircraft. These days, it refers to little more than a sophisticated toy equipped with a HiDef CCD.

Have you seen Werner Herzog's Cave of Forgotten Dreams? The aerial shots at the beginning and end were all shot from an RC helicopter.

I have an interest in rock art, so "Cave of Forgotten Dreams" was a must see for me. I saw the 3D version and loved it (an indication of my nerdiness).

I vividly remember the opening scenes with aerials of the river. Beautiful.

A 3D version? Darn, I missed it. I saw the 2D version on Netflix and later bought the Blu-ray disc. I think I've watched it more than twenty times. It just never gets old.

I watched another Herzog documentary recently, Gesualdo: Death for Five Voices. One of the customer reviewers on on Amazon describes Gesualdo as what This is Spinal Tap would have been if it had been made in Naples in the year 1540. That pretty much nails it.
