The Dow increases for eighth straight day

Dow Jones Industrial Average

From cbsnews:

Dow Jones ekes out eighth straight gain

...

The Dow Jones industrial average logged its longest winning streak in two years - barely.

A tiny gain gave the Dow its eighth straight increase Tuesday, long enough to match its longest series of gains since February 2011.

The Dow rose 2.77 points, or 0.02 percent, to 14,450.06, having wavered between small gains and losses for most of the day.

The broader Standard & Poor's 500 ended down 3.74 points, or 0.2 percent, at 1,552.48. The Nasdaq composite dropped 10.55 points, or 0.32 percent, to 3,242.32

Stocks have surged this year as investors became encouraged by a recovery in the housing market and a pickup in hiring. Strong corporate earnings and continuing economic stimulus from the Federal Reserve are also supporting demand for stocks.

The Dow has gained 10.3 percent so far in 2013, and last week it surpassed its previous all-time high of 14,164.53. The S&P 500 has risen 8.9 percent this year and is less than 1 percentage point away from its record close of 1,565.15 set in October 2007.

...

And The Unemployment rate is now at 7.7%, the lowest it has been in over four years.

Earth to idiot, the point should be obvious to anyone who isn't in a permanent state of Debbie Downer mode when it comes to Obama. The fact is the recent reports suggest, once again, that we are in fact on the road to recovery. At the very least it pours ice cold water on the fanatical predictions by you and your ilk, suggesting none of these things could have happened if the "Socialist" were still in office for a second term.

I loved the way FOX news had absolutely nothing to say about jobs for the first time in months, only after the new jobs report was released, far exceeding every economist's predictions. Can't be reporting on any good news now can we? Gotta keep the people drinking the kool-aide about how the socialist is ruining the country. Drink up sub, drink up.

I don't care who the President is, to the degree that the Dow increases and jobs reports reflect actual improvement in the economy, it's a great thing.

Unfortunately, I suspect they don't indicate as much improvement as I wish they did. And to be clear, I was never fooled by the real estate bubble and the facade of prosperity under George Bush, so I don't judge these things solely by the political leanings of the guy in the White House.

Were you referring to a specific time period? Fox News is a 24-hour channel, so exactly how long were you watching it before you determined they "had absolutely nothing to say about jobs".

I don't have cable, so I haven't watched Fox News in years. But from what I remember, I wouldn't have expected you to be a viewer Kevin.
