Obama Sells Out U.S. Citizens By Signing Monsanto Protection Act Into Lawhttp://www.salon.com/2013/03/27/how_the ... _into_law/Slipped into the Agricultural Appropriations Bill, which passed through Congress last week, was a small provision that’s a big deal for Monsanto and its opponents. The provision protects genetically modified seeds from litigation in the face of health risks and has thus been dubbed the “Monsanto Protection Act” by activists who oppose the biotech giant. President Barack Obama signed the spending bill, including the provision, into law on Tuesdayhttp://www.naturalnews.com/037621_GMO_s ... ancer.htmlAsk your doctor if CANCER is right for you

Not sure it matters, sub. Class
ressentiment (envy) is a passion grounded fundamentally in the desire to destroy and hurt. It feeds on the desire to plunder the fruits of the labor and property of others, but it is quite content to see this done vicariously, or to see the wealth of others wantonly destroyed just to long - as it is destroyed.
Obama and the Democratic party are playing to among the lowest, basest, most primitive impulses and passions of the human spirit, and these are dangerous impulses and passions to play with once a certain mentality sets in and once the idea of the rule of law is sufficiently delegitmized to allow the moral bounderies between citizen and citizen to be discarded.

I personally have no particular objection to genetically modified organisms. We've been doing it for centuries and now the pace has merely sped up. I also find interesting the opposition to irradiated food which process makes it much safer to eat than non irradiated food.
But notice that the 5 year Farm bill process is in danger. The Farm lobby is much weaker than they used to be, becoming supplanted by urban representative districts, and many of them are Democrats. Plus there have been no budgets under the Obama administration. Look for turnover in that department with the possible added bonus of the continuation of no more wasteful protectionist price increasing Farm bills especially if one does not materialize this year.

The fish, by the way, was flounder, not goldfish and there were no fins of course.

I suppose there might be some theoretical danger posed by further (and intentionally) genetically modifying food, but the level of thinking about this put forth by opponents is pretty low. Unless they can come up with some solid data and arguments, I suspect they will lose the fight.
I mean seriously, "RAID salad"? Ya know that plants have natural "insecticides" that we've been eating for centuries, right? Like this one?

Is anyone seriously arguing that Romney would have vetoed the agriculture bill? I'm with Cinepro -- the overhype on the GMO crops is silly.

I agree!! That is why I voted No on
Proposition 37 during the last election.

I'm not familiar with that specific proposition, but in general I'm all for providing information to consumers. One of the assumptions behind market theory is perfect information. We're never going to get there, but why not favor the conditions that are required to make markets work. Besides, if people prefer non GMO food for whatever reason, that just makes it cheaper for me.

Don't you want the giant corporation and its profits to be protected from public concerns about hippy ideas like whether the wholesomeness of our food is being compromised or not? What kind of republican are you??
How weird that you complain when Obama accidentally behaves more like a corporatist republican.
I think your only principle regarding Obama is that if he did it, then it is bad.

I believe, from my own general study of the subject, that approximately 99% of all pesticides we will ever ingest during our lifetimes are natural ones - found in our salad bowls.

Vast intellectual vacuity.
