Is money palliative or curative? Most of the palliative spending won't get you a building with your name on it. If the accumulation of excessive wealth is the expression of a need for self-aggrandizement, it stands to reason that having a building or a wing of a school or hospital named after you is going to be a lot more satisfying than giving a million mosquito nets to people you don't know.
