Why I hate socialism

I doubt this leftist sixth grade teacher realized it, but she taught this boy a very good lesson about what socialism means.

I knew I wasn't a socialist after playing a pickup game of basketball. You're a tall guy so you should do all the rebounding and play all the defense. We won't even cross half court most of the time, just throw us the ball so we can shoot and we'll have a good time at your expense. Thank heavens for tennis, distance running, weightlifting and individual sports. I realized early on that team sports suck because most people suck. An idiot asked me on the tennis court if I was interested in playing basketball. Why would I spend a second of my very limited exercise time to play basketball now that I can finally afford to play tennis?

Of course in real life it's more than just a grade but the result is similar to this group learning school project. You pay, you give, and you give, and when your turn comes there's nothing left or you're not eligible. Socialism is just another way for a few to gain power and benefit at other peoples expense. Socialism plays favorites just as much as capitalism, but it's even worse because it does so in an even more unfair way.

so football is a form of socialism. No wonder socialism keeps on a creeping on. All sorts of things might turn up being team undertakings. Generally I dislike real socialism but this makes it seem inescapable.

Anyone who believes the Gospel of Jesus Christ also despises Socialism.

Ajax,

Just so I understand, in your opinion, which countries in the world today practice socialism rather than capitalism?

I wasn't really thinking of specific countries. I'm talking about the idea of socialism, how it works out in life, and why I hate it.

Ajax you're not allowed to drive on American roads anymore due to your position on socialism.

Sounds like some very expensive roads to me. Right now I have to drive on toll roads a lot anyway.

Laos, China, Vietnam, Cuba...but Korea, India, Portugal, Tanzania, and some others have constitutional references to socialism...the list of former socialist countries is much longer...below in purple is every country that has socialism in their history

actually police, fire, and public libraries may be more akin to socialism..but that is kind of a stretch at what socialism intends...besides, roads are not purely socialist...for example - trucking companies pay more for roads than the typical private citizen because the typical citizen does not realize the business benefit.
besides, roads are not really social ownership of the means of production...there is not a "US Government Road Paving company"....nor is it a true representation of socialism...but rather social democracy.
I think most people here consider the idea of democratic socialism to be the plague of actual socialism being perpetuated by Obama and company.
Contrast that with social democracy, whereas social democracy actually embraces capitalism but considers it in need of humanizing...while the democratic socialist wants to use the power of the government and welfare programs to implement socialism as the nation's economic apparatus....this latter approach being one that ignores history and the facts of how contradictory the economics are.

I'm curious -- which means of production have been transferred from the private sector to the public sector since Obama took office?
