A positive Liberal story for a change - nanan Bspace

"Without a Republican governor and without a legislature being cock-blocked by Republicans, a $27 billion deficit was turned into a surplus, continuing the proud American tradition of Republicans blowing a huge hole in the budget and then Democrats coming in and cleaning it up."

"How was Governor Moonbeam able to do this? It's amazing, really. We did something economists call cutting spending AND raising taxes. I know, it sounds like some crazy science fiction story, but you see, here in California, we're not just gluten-free and soy-free and peanut-free, we're Tea Party free! Virginia could do it, too, but they're too busy forcing ultrasounds on women who want abortions. Texas could, but they don't because they're too busy putting Jesus in the science textbooks. Meanwhile their state is so broke they want to replace paved roads with gravel. I thought we had this road-paving thing licked in the 1930s, but not in Texas. But hey, in Dallas you can carry a rifle into a Chuck E. Cheese, cause that's freedom. Which is great, but it wasn't so great when that unregulated fertilizer plant in Waco blew up. In California, when things blow up, it's because we're making a Jason Statham movie.

Not good news at all. They continued spending unrestrained. If you want to control an out of control government, such as the state of California, you have to starve it of funds, not raise taxes.

Aussieguy I heard that Australia's socialism has finally hurt the country bad enough that you're electing conservative leaders again.
And when the confederates saw Jackson standing fearless as a stone wall the army of Northern Virginia took courage and drove the federal army off their land.

A lot of what the Conservatives do in Australia would be considered socialistic in America.

I don't know how it's a "positive" liberal story..... Everyone's leaving California because it's too expensive to live there, California is becoming a state with a huge divide between the rich and poor. A SMALL Apartment there which they try to call a "Condo" costs twice as much more than an entire House almost anywhere else in the country.

Unreasonable gun control, and a host of other issues, I don't call it a liberal success story at all. If that's a liberal success story than Conservative success is Heaven and it's Spirit Prison in comparison when all the actual facts are taken in.

Further, you should really start learning from people who actually know what they are talking about.

This video also shows some of why Bill is dumb when it concerns "gun control".

My nephew lives in Los Angeles. He is Australia, married an American girl and now plays both in Music Orchestras and in Orch that do music for movies like Pirates of the Caribbean. He makes enough money in 9 months to be able to take 3 months off. He does not complain about like there.

The Republican Governor of California from 2003 through 2010 wasn't able to do much to help California out with the Democrats controlling both the State Assembly and the State Senate all throughout his seven years of Governor there.
The Democrats have controlled both the State Assembly and the State Senate in California since 1996. Back in November of 2005, Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger called a special election for California. Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger campaigned for four of the eight Propositions that were on the ballot during that election. However, all four of Governor Schwarzenegger's Propositions were defeated along with the four other Propositions during that special election. The one Proposition from Governor Schwarzenegger that didn't pass, but that should have definitely passed was Proposition 75. Proposition 75 would have prohibited public-employee union dues being used for political contributions without their permission. That is one Proposition that should have definitely passed in California during that election.

Leslie Eastman, a founding member of the Southern California Tax Revolt Coalition, wrote in 2009 that "The aggressive union campaign against Schwarzenegger’s 2005 reform measures (including Proposition 75, which required unions for public workers to get written consent from members before spending their dues money on politics) left unions unchecked. Hence, the “spending spree” of our legislators to appease the union voter base - creating a California cycle of “pay for play” that has nearly destroyed our state."[2]

by the way, California did raise taxes in 2009.

Sure, California is a nice place, and if you're lucky enough to have a good "career" job, high paying then it's nice also.
We aren't saying it's totally bad, it after all was built by Conservatives until liberals took it over, and it is a major economic state of the U.S., but it's only been getting worse since, and we are saying it could be much better, and used to be much better.
