It's bad enough BYU lost to Memphis, but now it appears several BYU players were caught on t.v. starting a fight and punching a Memphis player in the back of the head:

Maybe Bronco should consider retiring...

While there was an ugly brawl at the end of this BYU score-only loss, it was due to the realization by the Memphis team that the overall righteousness of the BYU Squad would propel BYU into another automatic moral victory.

BYU has done it! Another unbeaten season of moral victories!!!

What strange experiments performed on BYU players are going on at the University of Utah Medical Center?
Head trauma from football collisions is no excuse to recreate a Cougar Island of Dr. Moreau.

My favorite desnews comment:

Hope Memphis player #41 Trevor Morgan did not suffer any injury. The BYU player looked pretty banged up.

Your own SLTrib reports:

"The Cougars were caught up in a postgame fight that featured all kinds of ugliness from both sides, including BYU center Tejan Koroma getting assaulted by four or five Memphis players, including one — Chase Johnson — who used his helmet like a weapon, clubbing Koroma upside the earhole from behind"

and

"By many accounts, BYU didn’t start the fight."

Not saying, of course, that it was a good thing, but apparently it's evident that some will be advancing a narrative that puts BYU in the most negative light possible and understanding that in and of itself puts BYU in a better light.

It's pretty much the same for other so-called "PR disasters" as they are not affecting the Church in the way hoped for and painted by it's detractors.

Many clear breaches of the honour code. For a University that requires its students to wear badges authorises facial hair I would expect many expulsions to come from this incident. Especially the BYU player that started the whole thing and the one who cowardly smacked a Memphis player on the back of the head then sheepishly ran away all excitedly like.

Let's count how many code violators get ousted from the University.....

But what does it have to with a BYU football player punching a Memphis player in the head?
