How many Republican candidates are running? I've lost count. Will any candidate ever become the clear leader?

I think that's a fair point. How do you really have a debate with 7 or 8 people on stage? Even the Democratic debate with 5 candidates became a fight for time that was poorly enforced.

It seems to me that the GOP is self-destructing.

It needs to happen. The status quo is unacceptable. The Republicans elected into Congress really haven't delivered on anything they were elected to do.
And when the confederates saw Jackson standing fearless as a stone wall the army of Northern Virginia took courage and drove the federal army off their land.

Not all Republicans are batshit crazy.

You know, I really like what I'm hearing from moderate conservatives these days; a lot of people are going to register Dem just to vote in the primary. If Dem polling only reflects the older democratic base, those polls mean almost nothing.

These days, I tend to view it as people who used to call themselves a Republican but are embarrassed by the current state of the party. Thinking conservatives. Sane conservatives. They're out there. They just tend not to be quite as vocal.

Something like tradition in revolution, democratic oligarchy, parmenidean dynamic, heraclitean htatic, spartan sybaritic, tautological dialectic, boolean eristic ...

Many call themselves independents.

I want what Putin wants? Apology tour. You should run for the GOP nomination, Ajax. You make crap up just like the rest of them.

You know it. I've been calling myself that for years, although I recognize my left leaning slant these days. I think it's age.

It would be fun to see a couple of Democrats square off against Megyn Kelly and Steve Doocey. They might not be the brightest, but they would still be more formidable than any current Republican candidates. This substitution is a good idea Ajax.
