1) It didn't take running for president for this to come out. It's that now that he is running for president, people are paying attention to it. The National Review did a piece on it nearly a year ago. There's actually a whole business of Republican personalities using their reputation (and often their mailing lists) to hawk fraudulent supplements and alternative medicine to credulous followers. Carson is just in on that money train in a way that is particularly disappointing given that he is an actual medical doctor.
2) As you probably know given your background, it's extremely rare and hard to pull a medical license. A doctor can do all sorts of things that we'd condemn and think less of a person for and not lose their license. Dr. Oz still has his license. If your standard of professional credibility for a doctor is, "At least they didn't pull his license" you're just announcing you have got extremely low standards.
3) You didn't actually answer my question. Why is this not a relevant question to ask? He's essentially being interviewed by the public to be president of the United States. Why wouldn't his resume matter?

Republican voters aren't a hive-mind. I'm pretty sure there is a broad range of questions Republicans want to hear answers to. It's like what you are really saying is "questions I want to hear answers to."
That aside, your position seems to be that a gotcha question is any question Republicans don't like being asked. That's crazy Ajax. Do you not see a problem with insulating people this way? Do you not see how this would immunize politicians from criticism or why that would be a bad thing? For someone who is distrustful of government power, it's awfully strange that you'd want a vetting process that is most apt to put corrupt liars in positions of power.
Williams later walked back his statements after they riled up the mainstream media, telling Breitbart News he had misspoken: “During my appearance on Jake Tapper I qualified everything I said, out of concern for misstating facts. I was confused on facts… There was no contract between Dr. Carson and Mannatech.”
Carson had merely made a verbal agreement with Mannatech distributor Platinum Group, according to producer Richard Taylor, who asked Carson to appear during a 2014 sponsorship of a PBS production about brain health. Carson was not paid for his appearance, Taylor said, and was only compensated for travel costs.
Did the moderators ask Hillary Clinton about the money she took from radical Islam groups for giving speeches, you know people that believe women should be permitted to drive a car, show their face in public, and need 3 eyewitness accounts to prove forcible rape? Does her feminist constituency even care? All Bernie had to do at the Democratic debate was say, "We don't want to hear about the email scandal," the Democratic crowd cheered and the entire issue went away.
“Does it strike you that they’re not going after — you know, here you’ve got Sen. Marco Rubio (R-FL). . . that has had a job as a pitchman for the Gang of Eight, of which we’ve had eight hours of debates. I do not believe Sen. Rubio has been asked one question about his marketing of the Gang of Eight bill, and all the gross representations he made about that at the time. Yet this magazine calls you a ‘bald-faced liar’ — do you think they single you out for special, brutal treatment?”
Why didn't they ask Sen. Rubio about his Gang of Eight amnesty during the debate?
And when the confederates saw Jackson standing fearless as a stone wall the army of Northern Virginia took courage and drove the federal army off their land.
Ben Carson has a decade relationship with Mannatech in which he has repeatedly marketed for them in a variety of venues. He has openly talked about receiving compensation for it. Several of the links I offered go into a fair amount of detail about how he has marketed for them. I intentionally linked conservative sources for that information. This includes linking videos of it. Here's a quick timeline of his relationship with them:
