GOP Candidates Can't Campaign Without Lying
How can the GOP sell themselves to the American people without lying? I mean, they clearly want to blow away Social Security and health care, give more tax breaks to the rich, destroy democracy, “F” the planet, drown our grandchildren, etc. But that doesn't sell well to the American public, so they have to lie.
Chris Christie looked Americans in the eye and baldfaced lied about Social Security. He lied in an ironic attempt to look more honest, by accusing the government of lying. damned douche.
Fiorina tried to sell the story that bigger government makes corporations want to get bigger to combat gov't power. How incredibly damned stupid do you have to be to swallow that crap, especially in this climate of big corporations owning congress? Not to mention the fact that it took government getting smaller by deregulating the size a corporation could get to make these obscenely large corporations possible in the first place. Stupid bitch.
And then you've got Trump and Carson, who lie merely because they couldn't tell the truth if their lives depended on it. I suspect it's because neither of them are enough in touch with reality to enable them to utter the truth.
Processors had to be smoking with all the fact checking that was necessary during the last GOP debate. It was just another run-of-the-mill meeting at the Bubba BS Society.
All of a sudden, Hillary looks semi-decent again.

I think the truth about socialist security that Chris Christie spoke really shocked people in the liberal bubble who hadn't been exposed to it for some time. You could almost see the moderators jump back in their chairs as if to say, "Nobody ever told me that before."
And when the confederates saw Jackson standing fearless as a stone wall the army of Northern Virginia took courage and drove the federal army off their land.

More like a surprised look that anyone could possibly make such stupid remarks on live television. The moderators were clearly the more educated of the lot.

The only way Christie's comments weren't a lie is if you were to visit the alternate universe where he becomes president and enacts legislation for the government to steal Social Security (privatize it... steal it... however you want to put it).

Apparently, Christie thinks our FICA payments should be stuffed in mattresses over 50 years. Or maybe he thinks 401ks have been stolen by the companies they are invested in. What an asshole.

The Republican party has spent too much time conducting a campaign of misinformation to switch gears at this time. The candidates say what their handlers tell them, unless they are like that traitorous Kevin McCarthy who revealed the truth about the Benghazi hearings or Governor Kasich who blabbed on the bad ideas of his rivals.

I think that suspecting that they are not "enough in touch with reality to enable the to utter the truth" is being too charitable. I think it more likely that they are are in touch with reality, and are deliberately counting on there being enough people with sufficient dislike for that reality to believe their lies and get them elected..
No precept or claim is more likely to be false than one that can only be supported by invoking the claim of Divine authority for it--no matter who or what claims such authority.

All of a sudden, Hillary looks semi-decent again.
But Bernie lied about Exxon, Bernie lied about how much we spend on healthcare, Bernie lied about how we work the longest hours, Bernie lied about childhood poverty......and so on
Hillary calls Bernie a sexist, Hillary lied about gun business liability, Hillary lied about landing under fire, Hillary lied about length of Benghazi investigation,Hillary lied about taxes paid by various groups, Hillary lied about NIH funding under Bush, Hillary lied about her "all" her grandparents being immigrants (only one)...etc.
So glad that such well-informed people like yourself are around to let the American people know how stupid they are and how of they would just simply listen to your truth they would be better off. You know what is just, right, and good for the American people- it is so crazy that you are not in charge of it all.

Re: GOP Candidates Can't Campaign Without Lying
But Bernie lied about Exxon
Did he? Seems the jury is still out on that one, although I'm hardly surprised that the Right wing has jumped to Exxon's defense and given them the benefit of the doubt. I mean, it isn't like Exxon doesn't have a past riddled with dishonesty and law breaking or anything like that, right?
Bernie lied about how much we spend on healthcare
Did he? It seems more likely that he misspoke since either way you put it, the overall point still stands. The USA spends substantially more on healthcare than all other countries. It spends more than twice the average of what other countries spends, and Bernie likely misspoke when he said it spends twice as much as any other country.

It does spend more than twice the amount as is spent in countries like the UK and Canada, which would have been sufficient to establish his point. Socialized medicine reduces costs, that's a fact.
Bernie's so-called "lies" are so few when compared to the Right that this was basically all you could really come up with. You essentially copied Polifact website and searched for all the statements he made they deemed "false."
Only 5 of his comments, or 15% were considered completely false. Zero were categorized as "pants on fire" which is what they do for those who flat out lie.
Meanwhile, GOP front runner Donald Trump got tagged with 44 remarks, or 75% as mostly false or false, with 11 of them categorized "pants on fire."
The guy in second place, Ben Carson, had 82% of his comments tagged mostly false to "pants on fire."
Mike Huckabee? 51%
Carly Fiorina? 47%
Marco Rubio? 43%
Ted Cruz? 67%
Jeb Bush? 31%
Funny looking at the trend among GOP candidates. It seems like the more honest they are, the lower they are in the polls. LOL. Republican voters have spoken. They want someone who is just going to lie and say stupid crap all the time. Truth means nothing.
