Your's looks much nicer.
The 80's is exactly where our dresser comes from. We had 2 sets of it. I still have all the dressers, only one headboard/footboard.
Just in case people are considering chalk paint...
That was my first experience with Annie Sloan chalk paint and wax. What I learned (after reading so many blogs and pinterest pins) is that the chalk paint is *everything* people say that it is. You don't need to sand or prime, though I did lightly sand the slick laminate top just to be sure and according to Annie Sloan's advice on her website.
I used 3 coats, could have gotten by with just 2.
What I liked was the no sanding/primer part, the fact that the paint is so thick I could paint it right in the room it was in (couple of things for drop cloths/moving stuff out of the way), it dries SO fast and the wax makes the finish (yes, it has brush strokes) smooth as butter and it has a satin shine to it. I am hoping to find time to paint one other tall dresser from the set.
I mounted the drawer pulls on foam board and sprayed them outdoors with "hammered pewter" by Rustoleum.
I've recently read a blog review where the blogger took all the major chalk paint brands and two recipes of homemade chalk paint, and reviewed them side by side. Her conclusion was that there was NO difference between the store brands or homemade, and she demonstrates this with step by step/side by side pics.
Pretty interesting!
