Sorry but no. To get a drivers licence one has to past tests to demonstrate knowledge and ability to drive a car safely. Background checks just look at whether a person has a criminal record or mental history.

Well there you have it folks. We can easily attribute this atrocity to the Right Wing media's misinformation campaign of sowing hatred and fear. I wonder when FOX News will issue an apology.

This a major problem. It is the same factor that gets people to join groups like Daesh and commit acts of violence. Spewing hate for others only makes things worse. I would think in a part of the world where Christianity is dominate most of them would do the opposite as the New Testament teaches them. Unfortunately they don't.

How many people have to be seriously injured, or die, before you concede the need for stricter controls on the manufacture and use of automobiles?

Last I checked they don't issue drivers licenses to certain "mentally ill"....

1. So, instead of focusing on the car and the law abiding drivers as being the problem, why don't you instead focus on getting better health related issues into the background check system? After all.... nearly every single mass shooting has been by someone know to be or diagnosed with mental illness issues. Because you liberals want to ban cars, or restrict them as much as you can at minimum so they can't really ever be used by anyone except by the government, and even then we can't use them because only the government will have them. Thus, you people don't actually want to FIX the problem.... you want to blame the "tools". Yet I don't see you all blaming Obama for liberal failures in Chicago despite their gun bans/resctrictions.

2. Chicago Obama's homeland has the equivlent of a few 1,000 mass shootings a year, and near actual ones, yet Chicago is near total gun ban/restricted, and yet you don't hear a word for Obama.
But somehow the rare almost always mental health challenged person in liberal warped mindset means guns need to be restricted from the law abiding.

3. Just watched the movie "No Escape"..... Highly recommend you people watch it and start learning why the right to self defense is a human right, and that guns is the ONLY equalizer against those who abuse and oppress.

Thus clearly, liberals don't actually want to "solve" the problems..... They want to simply take guns away, just like they do in nearly every other country.
It's facinating to me how liberals don't have logic and intelligence.... If they did, they would be able to look at history and other country's and see exactly the "patterns" the rhetoric, etc. that led to gun bans. Yet, they call conservatives the stupid ones.... When I read about this incident that happened during the shooting, I briefly wondered if our very own ldsfaqs was in Colorado Springs for the holiday weekend.

"There was a moment this afternoon when a man walked up to the scene with a handgun strapped to his waist and ammunition vest around his chest," The Gazette reports. "He appeared to be asking police if he could help. Officers told him to leave immediately because appearing at the scene while wearing firearms and that equipment was a bad idea."
