The Golden State Warriors are not only playing record-smashing basketball, they are doing so with chemistry and grace that at times makes the other teams look like The Washington Generals.
More than one writer has said they are the most entertaining franchise in professional sports right now.
After convincingly winning the NBA title last year, critics of the Warriors 'small ball' said the Warriors were lucky to win because they didn't have to face San Antonio or San Diego, and the Cavs they met in the finals were banged up.
After winning a Championship, some teams suffer a letdown, a drop in intensity. With Coach Steve Kerr out recovering from back surgery, the beginning of the season would seem to have the time to do it.
Instead, they've started the season winning 18 in a row.
While there have been a few squeakers, most games have not been close. Last night after going up by 29, they cruised home. The night before? Curry had 40 in 3 quarters, and sat down for the 4th. The starters are getting rest through this streak.
After Clippers' Coach Doc Rivers off-season comments about the Warriors became motivation, the Warriors played the Clippers earlier in the streak. Chris Paul was on fire, scoring 18 in the first quarter. The Clippers led by 23.
The Warriors won by 7.
In the last 2 seasons, in games that where they have trailed by 20 or more, the Warriors are 3-3. The rest of the league is 12-433.
Athletes all talk about being in the zone. Certainly Steph Curry has been in the zone so far this year. But the team chemistry has been in the zone as well.
But come for the Chemistry. You'll stay for the Curry.
