The are rejecting what you say because we can all punch holes in your reasoning because it's not sound. You make a post, such as this about Trump or 9/11, and people go about the business of refuting what you say. Even when you are confronted by folks who live in or near the site of 9/11 and were directly impacted by it, or Paterson or Jersey City or what have you, know the area, were there that day...you hold on to your "turf" like you're holding on to your dick and won't let go for fear that little thing is going to fall off.

You said you were a good teacher. No, you're not, Lee. On this thread you are surrounded by teachers from an early childhood professional of 30 years who is well schooled child development and knows just enough about psychology to get me in trouble or point someone to resources, all the way up to college professors who hold doctorates. A good teacher who is a good learner, asks questions, makes inquiry. That's how we learn. You are surrounded by invaluable human educational resources on this forum from a variety of disciplines, subjects, walks of life, etc. and instead of using them as resources, you use them for your personal punching bags.

One anecdote that had a tremendous impact on me was in Zen and the Art of Motorcycle Maintenance. The protagonist is a teacher who asks his college class to write an essay on the subject What is creativity in thought and action?

After a long weekend, the class comes back with long and puzzled faces. The class had struggled mightily with the question. We don't know, they said, what is the answer?

The Teacher replies that he didn't really know, he was trying to find the answer.

The class was furious. You didn't know? How dare you ask a question to which you didn't know the answer?

And that says something about the way a lot of people expect to find knowledge. Actually having to find the answer is a goddamn imposition.

Anyway, the phrase 'you teach to learn' made me think of that. A professor who went on a journey of exploration with his class, and they were really pissed about it.
