I have already mentioned other factors several times but you don't seem interested to acknowledge it.

You are all over the place themis? and your position is changing.

Provide references where I have changed my position. I have said several times in these discussion human factors play a role.

we were talking about borders and crime, and criminals? who do not follow laws?

The point, since you seem to be missing it, is that good gun laws will save lives whether or not the drugs cartels exist or not.

we have the freedom to own a car, and car accidents far exceed gun accidents, it is not even close.

So? Do you think the number of accidents would rise if no one had to get a license to drive any vehicle?

because a license does not stop criminal from owning guns anymore than the laws saying you have to have a license to drive a car keeps people from driving without a license. bad people do not follow laws.

Sure it does. Most people who don't have a license don't drive a car. Most who lose there license will stop driving until they can get it back, and many who don't get caught. Guns are not as easy to get in other countries so less criminals will have them. More will get caught with them and get into trouble.

no, people with extensive criminal records should not have the freedom to own guns, and that is why we have laws that forbid people with extensive criminal records to own guns, they are called felons, and possession is a mandatory prison sentence, that all to often is suspended.

I agree that they should get into more trouble for being caught with a gun. The US is a country where guns are easily obtained. A criminal can even buy them without a background check if they know the loop holes. With such ease and so many guns available it shouldn't come as a surprise why more criminals, and other who shouldn't have one, end up with a gun.

You never said how a licensing requirement takes away anyone's freedom to own a gun.
