The president of Liberty University, America's largest Christian college, told his student body Friday that "if more good people had concealed-carry permits, then we could end those Muslims before they walk in and kill."
He stuck his hand in his back pocket, indicating that he had a gun, and, referring to the people killed last week in San Bernardino, said, "If the people in that community center had had what I got in my back pocket right now . . . " A video of the event shows students responding with applause.
It gets worse. Falwell invited Liberty students to attend a free course offered on campus to acquire open-carry permits and concluded by saying, "Let's teach them a lesson if they ever show up here."
What a great idea, arming all the students. Because hey, what's the worst that could happen?
*sorry, meant to post this in the off-topic arena.

I have to wonder if gun control advocates fear a situation where a mass killing is quickly averted by a civilian with a concealed carry permit. If that ever happens, it could be disastrous for future efforts at gun control.

As a principle, I get the attraction behind the idea that the San Bernando shooting would have been less if one of the people targeted had had a weapon and returned fire. It sounds logical and reasonable. The prevention of mass shootings isn't the downside to more prolific ownership of concealed weapons. It's clearly an upside. The issue is what price would be paid in other downsides that perhaps outweighs the perceived benefit?

It's already happened several times..... the liberal media doesn't generally report or emphasis it.
