Can't say I blame him, though I'd love for him to come. BYU has to be one of the toughest coaching jobs in the nation.
I know Navy has its own unique challenges; heck, to play ball at Navy, you've got to actually be in the Navy among other things. But leaving Navy - where he is highly respected and can stay for the rest of his career, with a big paycheck, and where he is the most public face of Mormonism (and it's actually a positive face) in the area - to come to BYU where he'd be immediately criticized by people at church the first game he drops, second-guessed by the nation's worst college football fans at each move, for a smaller paycheck doesn't make much sense.

Cougarboard is reporting the new coach is Kalani Sitake. Here is a picture one Cougarboard member took of Coach Sitake at the COB with his beard shaved, having just left a meeting with one of the 12.
