It's astonishing that this article was written seriously and with a sympathetic tone. I don't understand how any taxpayer could read this and not be angry as hell. We wonder why the nation is so polarized. It's because half of us are sick of having to pay for this crap.
Some of the gems I highlighted.
Within weeks of arriving, she secured a spacious one-bedroom apartment on an eastern Brooklyn boulevard through the city’s H.I.V./AIDS Services Administration, and obtained food stamps.
Glad I'm not NY state taxpayer. I wish all of her kind would flee to blue states. It's as if these people believe that all their "needs" should be provided for by a faceless taxpayer since it's a right. Any money they earn or in his/her case "hustle," goes to their wants.
Cricket the transgender welfare case says,
Those two things were crucial: “Once you’re not having to concentrate on whether you have a roof over your head or where your next meal is going to come from, it makes it easier to live healthy,” she said
You don't say? How healthy do you think people are who work 12-14 hrs/day trying to get ahead only to be slammed each April with ever increasing taxes.
This was the funniest quote, "Opting “out of the game” in her move to New York, Ms. Nimmons was determined to get by on a monthly disability check of $722 — a third of which went toward her mostly city-paid rent." Unfortunately it wasn't meant to be funny.
And what welfare case's life would be complete without trying to get some settlement money in court? This article lauds her virtue in securing a $200,000 settlement against a perverted jail guard she probably lured into a sexual relationship. In the articles words, "She pulled a Lewinsky on him."
The best I can say for her is at least she didn't reproduce herself.
