You're a modern liberal thus you are indeed a modern Democrat, because the Democrat party has been taken over by the modern liberal, a.k.a. "Progressive", socialist, marxist, communist, fascist, the people who were once "fringe" of American society are now "mainstream". Traditional Democrates while always on the Left used to be much more conservative, primarily due to religion. JFK today for example would be considered a Bush Right Winger, which shows clearly how left the left has become. The Right however is the same as we've always been, conserving traditional American values and Freedoms.

Just to clarify, are you saying that sophisticated businesses willingly loan money to "poor customers around the country — particularly people of color?" I ask this because not too long ago, I was told over and over again on this forum that sophisticated businesses would never do such an irresponsible thing! I was told that the only reason businesses would ever loan money to poor people was because the government forced them to loan it through the CRA and other nefarious government heavy-handedness.

Are you guys coming around to my viewpoint on this issue?

They have to. None of them were ever able to show even one law that forced any bank to make any loan that violated its own lending criteria.

"You guys" refers to the AM-radio conservatives on this forum. I know bcspace and Droopy were quite vocal about the theory that the financial crisis was primarily caused by sub-prime mortgages, and that sub-prime mortgages wouldn't have been issued if the CRA didn't force banks to make those loans. If you don't agree with them on the point, I apologize for the generalization and would appreciate you clarifying your position on the matter.

Regarding your point, Warren Buffett is first and foremost a sagacious businessman. Warren Buffet sells and finances mobile homes for the same reason he does almost everything that he does: to make money. It isn't an insidious plot to keep minorities down in order to bolster the Democratic party.
