Re: Personality Type
Very interesting list ... some appear compulsive (dishes in place etc.). I mention the one -- touchy feely as my wife is the same way. I always attributed it to a whole family deal, where the father left very early in life and the mother was very NOT touchy feely, also with a total lack of any verbal touchy feely (never told loved etc.). Thus all of the siblings seem to be the same. If you get hold of one of them, its arms to the side, stiff as a board and hugely uncomfortable for them.

Re: Personality Type
Is there any "FREE" MBTI tests out there? Can't find one yet. (nevermind Google friend)
I've taken these various tests at least once before, and most I always come out the "exception" to the rules and most people, like I'm a little of everything.
Here's my results for the:
The only thing I don't like about the above results is that it doesn't show the actual "distribution".
Sure, the "primary" is Guardian, but showing how the results are distributed with other personality types is also good to know.
I've taken this before for example and seen the actual data. I "lean" Guardian, but I'm almost the same degree in the other types.
Of course, apparently if I "purchase" the stuff, it looks like I would get more "detail". Oh well.....

So I took this test now.....
And half of it is completely wrong. Half of it's conclusions don't describe me at all, though half of it IS accurate.
It's primary characteristic say's I'm a "social bee"..... but I'm not a "social bee" AT ALL.... etc.

Here's my results for the:
Custom Keirsey Temperament Report for: leeuniverse
Your Keirsey Temperament Sorter Results indicates that your personality type is that of the:
Guardians
(SJ's) are the cornerstone of society, for they are the temperament given to serving and preserving our most important social institutions. Guardians have natural talent in managing goods and services--from supervision to maintenance and supply -- and they use all their skills to keep things running smoothly in their families, communities, schools, churches, hospitals, and businesses.
Guardians can have a lot of fun with their friends, but they are quite serious about their duties and responsibilities. Guardians take pride in being dependable and trustworthy; if there's a job to be done, they can be counted on to put their shoulder to the wheel. Guardians also believe in law and order, and sometimes worry that respect for authority, even a fundamental sense of right and wrong, is being lost. Perhaps this is why Guardians honor customs and traditions so strongly -- they are familiar patterns that help bring stability to our modern, fast-paced world.
Practical and down-to-earth, Guardians believe in following the rules and cooperating with others. They are not very comfortable winging it or blazing new trails; working steadily within the system is the Guardian way, for in the long run loyalty, discipline, and teamwork get the job done right. Guardians are meticulous about schedules and have a sharp eye for proper procedures. They are cautious about change, even though they know that change can be healthy for an institution. Better to go slowly, they say, and look before you leap.
Guardians make up as much as 40 to 45 percent of the population, and a good thing, because they usually end up doing all the indispensable but thankless jobs everyone else takes for granted.
You are most comfortable when your life is structured. As a result you usually prefer a workplace that lets you create a routine you can settle into. Because you are dependable and exacting, your colleagues and customers rely on your work. Your ideal job offers you a clear chain of command, and lets you progress through a hierarchy based on your meeting expectations.
The only thing I don't like about the above results is that it doesn't show the actual "distribution".

You can use this link: http://keirsey.com/4temps/idealist_overview.asp
To the right is a menu of Keirsey temperaments and underneath each one, is the MBTI counterpart. You can click on those.
There are dozens of MBTI tests online for free or paid.
I've taken the formal MBTI multiple times (included in those were career paths) and also the quick online tests. In each case, the outcome is the same, INFJ, so I think even the quizzes online are helpful to some degree.
It's important that the questions be answered accurately and honestly. Not what you think or imagine you are, but what you really are. That's hard to do.
It's also important to carefully examine each part of the results: I-N_F_J or whatever outcome you receive. This tells us, essentially, how people function.
The hard part for me is that if my personality type is rarest (according to MBTI 1%) or very rare (according to Keirsey 15-20%) then I think it automatically follows that other folks have less experience with people such as myself and less opportunity to develop understanding of that person and their personality type.

In recent years, I've been trying really hard to be more cautious/aware of this. With my family, and friends, it's always been a natural response to hug someone upon greeting (often even if it was the first time meeting -- rascally Euro-centric carry over from my ancestors, I suppose). Even when giving a handshake to someone I already know, I have a natural tendency to place my hand on their arm or shoulder.
On behalf of overzealous huggers, I apologize. I am getting much better at picking up on the cues though... baby steps. A few months ago, I discovered my poor bishop has a high value on personal space. I instinctively gave him a hug one Sunday, and I could feel him physically stiffen with discomfort. Still feel rotten that I made him feel that way – he was really understanding though when I apologized afterwards (he was actually a little surprised).

Who are you asking?
What kind of stairs are they? Open or closed?

Interrestingly (or perhaps not), I tend to see myself more within the description from the Keirsey role variant than the Myers-Briggs.

Uh, believe me.... I'm not answering in a way that would make me a "social bug", and I'm certainly doing so honestly per the questions asked.
Clearly the test is flawed.
Being a social bug is complete "opposite" of who I am, like, do, think, etc.

An INFJ’s sense of balance is greatly upset by disorder, especially when that disorder is present in his sanctuary. So, when you’re in an INFJ’s home, (or office, or car), clean up after yourself! However….
2.Just make sure you don’t mess with the INFJ’s “system”—his organization of drawers, cupboards, closets, etc. This is worse than putting up with a slob. (For example, I would never let someone else do my laundry or put my dishes away).
3.Have respect for the INFJ’s privacy. He is an intensely private person, both with his personal possessions and his thoughts. Even coming to the INFJ’s home without calling first and giving plenty of warning is seen as a HUGE invasion of his privacy, and is one of the worst violations you can commit against the INFJ.
1, 2, and especially 3 are huge for me too-I empathize with you, Jersey Girl. Hopefully a nice big snowstorm (for which you are well prepared!!!) makes a little time and space cocoon of solitude for you to enjoy. (with of course no interruption of internet service so we can chat a little if you want.
