Just depends on the application. The biggest critique of CFL's is that until very recently the light they emit is geared towards the "cooler" blue wave lengths. Now they have CFL's that are geared towards the "warmer" red wave lengths. Still in some applications a standard incandescent light bulb works best. GE is stopping production of CFL's because LED's are better.
