Without the emails Clinton is still a person that quasi-controversy follows. It's a distraction that the office of the president just doesn't need.
She just seems like a very shady person. And inauthentic. Not unlike most of her peers she is full of soundbites and not a lot of substance.

We aren't asking for them because they don't potentially belie what the various candidates are claiming in their campaigns like they might with Hillary. GOP candidates, except Trump, aren't claiming they aren't bought (of course, nobody's bothered to ask them - I think we all know the answer).
And frankly, her refusal to share that information is pretty much tacit admission that it wouldn't look good. Otherwise, why stoke the controversy?
