Never said it was. But it was and is a reality we have to deal with. She's just 4 years older than I am, but I do remember some of the later 1950's. We've come a long ways, and we still have many miles to go before we sleep.

Bernie Sanders voted for the same bill the "super-predator" talking point was created to booster. It was indeed a terrible bill with terrible racial consequences. Shame that Bernie Sanders supported it. It appears you're able to forgive Sanders enough for this shameful voting record, even understanding that it being popular was no excuse, so you might not be in the best position to criticize Clinton on it.

The Clinton team did race-bait in 2008 when running against Obama and it was awful. The upshot was that the political calculation going on in that didn't pay off.

Bullsh*t! He never said "Super Predators" and he was forced to vote for that bill was to compromise. He never liked that bill. Sanders also voted against tough-on-crime measures. He voted against the 1991 crime bill. He voted against banning Pell grants (for college) for prisoners. He voted to amend the 1994 crime law to ban the federal death penalty. And he voted against the Anti-Terrorism and Effective Death Penalty Act of 1996, which stripped defendants and prisoners of their ability to contest court rulings — even when the rulings may be unconstitutional.

The sudden uptick in the fear of violent black crime. Over the last 40 or so years the overall violent crime rate has gone down. But the decline has not been a steady one. Personally I think it was an artifact of that fear than actual crime rates going up.
