Golden Globes: 1 Nomination, 1 Win
- Whenever a poet or preacher, chief or wizard spouts gibberish, the human race spends centuries deciphering the message. - Umberto Eco
- To assert that the earth revolves around the sun is as erroneous as to claim that Jesus was not born of a virgin. - Cardinal Bellarmine at the trial of Galilei

I'm guessing "Son of Saul" is a T.V. show?

For those who don't descry anything over the borders of United States --- and for those who can not follow any simple association so move all of them - randomly - to the memory hole of Outer Darkness:
Son of Saul (Hungarian: Saul fia) is an Oscar-winning 2015 Hungarian drama film directed by László Nemes and co-written by Nemes and Clara Royer. It is set in the Auschwitz concentration camp during World War II, and follows a day-and-a-half in the life of Saul Ausländer (played by Géza Röhrig), a Hungarian member of the Sonderkommando.

The film premiered at the 2015 Cannes Film Festival, where it won the Grand Prix. It was also shown in the Special Presentations section of the 2015 Toronto International Film Festival. The film won the award for Best Foreign Language Film at the 88th Academy Awards. It is the ninth Hungarian film to be nominated for the award, and the first one since István Szabó's Hanussen in 1988. It is the second Hungarian film to win the award, the first one being István Szabó's Mephisto in 1981. It won the Golden Globe for Best Foreign Language Film.

The links are checked. All of them work. For short-sighted readers...

Sorry for the quote from wikipedia. There are four occurence of the word "Hungarian".

Sorry. I don't keep up with pop culture.

Ouch, dig it in deeper and twist it, too? Man.

Son of Saul is to pop culture as a fine red wine is to junk food.

An interesting, albeit simplified (and self acknowledgedly so) discussion.

As usual, I have no time to personally engage with the ideas presented here, but the article's take may be of interest to others in the way it frames the discussion of "subjective" and the film's POV. It makes me think of a similar, yet radically different, treatment of these issues in relation to representations of the Holocaust in Ariel Dorfman's novel Hard Rain.
