If you have 3+ minutes to watch this rant, pleased do. Dave Ramsey on politics and who's in charge.

Let it rip, Dave!

Amen sister!

I like Ramsey. His religiosity is a personality quirk that I don't get, but otherwise I like his viewpoint and how he expresses it.
It’s relatively easy to agree that only Homo sapiens can speak about things that don’t really exist, and believe six impossible things before breakfast. You could never convince a monkey to give you a banana by promising him limitless bananas after death in monkey heaven.

Ramsey is a "self-help" con artist, in my view. I had friends here trying to get to me attend his sessions at $70 a pop just to hear him talk about how people are poor and in debt because they're lazy and need Jesus in their lives. A guy who filed bankruptcy is going to tell me how to become financially independent?

The motivational speaker pitch at the end of this video that was played it not being a pitch as part of its pitch rubbed me the wrong way. That's a giant red flag.

You don't need to attend his sessions.
You don't need to read his books.

You can listen to his radio show and pick up the needed information to become financially independent and debt free if you can't figure it out yourself. We've been living the way he teaches all our lives. Long before he was known. We've been financially independent and debt free for 25+ years.

Go figure.

A guy who filed bankruptcy is going to tell me how to become financially independent?

Is this a sarcastic way of making fun of a motivational speaker sales pitch?

Jersey Girl, I don't want to hear about you writing Facebook posts about how EA changed your life. For the low price of $499 I didn't change your life. You did. I simply showed you how.

I saw him in person once--about 13 years ago now. The meeting was as religious as his radio program, which is a bit less religious than, say, an Amway meeting. He was selling lots of stuff there--a lot of advertisers for stuff that was and wasn't related to his message. And he was giving away cassettes with his religious message. I grabbed one out of curiosity, and when he said in the introduction to the tape a vague insinuation that I might burn in hell for eternity if I didn't accept Jesus, I almost vomited. I didn't literally throw up, but I did literally throw the tape out the window.

Regarding financial advice, he makes a lot of good points, but I'd quibble with several things too. For example, I'm not a fan of actively managed mutual funds like he is. He does seem to sell his soul for advertising revenue--why in the “F” would he endorse a Kansas City auto dealer?

But, his message that the borrowr is a slave to the lender has a ton of truth in it--just because a Bible verse happens to say it doesn't mean it's false.
